Kelvin Richard - Director of Photography


Kelvin is a Cinematographer whose efforts have contributed towards many nominated and award winning productions.


He has photographed TV dramas, feature films, scripted comedy, short drama and music productions with a creative eye and a strong committed approach to each production. Postcode (BAFTA nominated), Humza's Christmas Jumper, the BAFTA nominated children's series Hetty Feather and the Cannes Lion award winning commercials, Choose A Different Ending and Who Killed Deon?.


Kelvin worked his way through the camera department grades of camera rental technician at Samuelson Film Services, film Clapper Loader (2nd AC) and Focus Puller (1st AC). Working with DoP’s Jeff Baynes,    Witold Stok BSC, Mike Southon BSC and Simon Archer BSC. His working knowledge of the camera crew is invaluable in getting the best out of his team whether in the UK or overseas. His DoP skills have been crafted with Main Unit dailies on larger BBC drama productions; Spooks, (Kudos/BBC1), Hustle, (Kudos/BBC1) The Fixer, (Kudos/BBC1).


Most recently Kelvin has been working with Idris Elba on the SKY comedy  series “In The Long Run” as well as the BAFTA nominated and Broadcast Award winning CBBC series "Apple Tree House" and across the last three series of the BBC1 drama, Doctors.


Kelvin has years of wide-ranging experience of lighting and operating on drama, music, documentary productions, and many multi camera live music performances on Live from Abbey Road (series 1 & 2).


He is a member of BECTU and a full BAFTA member.
